Human Histories
The Human History teams at the Royal BC Museum care for belongings, histories and objects so we can better understand society and life in this province from many perspectives
Disciplines within our human history collections include:
- The BC Archaeology collection contains a vast array of artifacts that shed light on the early history of First Nations in BC and the history of immigrant communities.
- The History collection traces life in BC from the 1800s to today, with a special focus on textiles, industry and everyday life.
- The Indigenous collection is one of the most comprehensive in BC, with objects ranging from tiny jewelry to massive poles and canoes.
- The Indigenous Audio-Visual collection contains thousands of sound recordings, still and moving images that document Indigenous life from the 1850s to now.
